Lumen for growing pepper plants |
||
|---|---|---|
A lumen is denoted by ln and is a measure of the amount of light emitted from a particular source that human eyes can see. Only the visible light is included in the lumen measurement so invisible wavelengths such as Ultraviolet (UV) and infrared are not included. The visible range of wavelengths is 400 to 700 nanometers (nm). |

| Lumen Vs. Watts for Plant Lights | ||
Often light bulbs and many other kinds of electrical equipment often use watts as a way to describe the items power. Unfortunately, although watts do give a general indication of a piece of electrical equipments power, it does not take into account infrared energy (heat) or, in the case of light bulbs, UV light.
